Stork Radio

I’ve been eyeballing StorkRadio.com for the past couple of weeks, deciding whether I should rent or buy a fetal doppler so I can listen in on Cap’n Jack whenever I feel like it.

Honestly… when I have I ever been known to deny myself anything?! Indeed, the nine months I’ll spend waiting for Jack to arrive will be THE.LONGEST I have ever delayed gratification… and even then, it’s not like it’s by choice. No, if I had any choice in the matter, you can bet your ass that my baby would have arrived on the same day I decided I wanted one.

But I digress.

Of COURSE I ended up renting one. This bad boy right here, in fact, which can record and save your baby’s heartbeat. Neat, eh?!

It arrived yesterday, and as soon as Brian got home from work, we gooped on some ultrasound gel and started trying to locate our incredibly elusive baby boy. How hard are 22 week old babies to find in the womb? Oddly enough, very. It’s baffling, really… It’s not like my stomach is the size of Texas (not yet, anyway). Hiding places are quite limited for a baby, especially one who is close to 12 inches long.

By the way, did you know the placenta makes a sound like the wind blowing? Seriously creepy.

Anyway, we eventually tracked down the little bugger and got a 30-second clip of his heartbeat! It’s not as crystal clear or as loud as listening to his heartbeat at the doctor’s office, but it’s still exceptionally cool.
