Everyday :: Daddy Love

I don’t think I’ve ever posted it over here before, but not only is Brian an absolutely amazing husband, he’s a fantastic father, too. I feel incredibly lucky to have him, and while Jack can’t yet vocalize it, I know he feels the same way.

We’ve had an arrangement since Jack started sleeping through the night (and by that I mean 7-8 hours a stretch), where I get up with him in the middle of the night to feed him, and Brian gets up with him when he wakes up in the wee early morning hours.

It works out great for both of us, because I wake up countless times in the middle of the night anyway, and can handle getting up/giving Jack his pacifier multiple times, but Brian sleeps super soundly. I, on the other hand, am in crazy deep sleep after 4 am, so I cannot (and I mean can NOT) get up earlier than 7:30 or 8 am, but after Brian’s had at least 6-7 hours of sleep, he’s good to go.

Jack’s sleep schedule for most of the past few months (a few bad stretches notwithstanding) has been to fall asleep at 6 or 6:30 p.m., sleep 8 hours, wake up and eat around 2 or 3, go back to sleep, and wake up around 5 a.m. (I make it sound simple and easy and restful, but trust me, it’s not… Jack is a light sleeper just like I am, so he wakes up numerous times through the night, too! He almost always ends up in bed with me after his feeding, where I hold him with one exhausted eye open while he fidgets and twists and kicks.)

So not only does my crazy awesome husband let me get some much-needed sleep in the morning (most times it’s the only restful sleep I get!), he gets to spend some quality time with Jack for about three hours every morning before I wake up and take over. Jack is usually asleep by the time Brian gets home at night, so them having some time together is important to all of us.

I honestly don’t know how he does it (sometimes it’s hard on him to get up that early), but he never complains, he always seems happy in the mornings, and more importantly, JACK is happy in the mornings. I am pretty damn sure that would not be the case if I were the one dragging my grouchy ass out of bed at 5 a.m.!

I snapped this picture of the two of them this a.m. It’s so sweet… Jack shows you he loves you by touching your face:

And the second he knows I’m awake, he sits up and greets me with his happy little face:

Awwww! *SQUISH!* How much do I love my two favorite guys?!

So sweet! And so sad for Brian that the little guy is in bed before he gets home :( . I know that’s the way of it, but it still sucks for Brian!

You guys make a beautiful family. Congratulations on the health and wellness of your baby boy, and it’s great to see true family sharing with regards to baby care.

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them. — George Bernard Shaw
